About Us

This website is an evolution of a family's worth of creative skills in need of an outlet that doesn't simply result in the need to build additional storage areas. What follows is a husband's/father's attempt to provide some background info on the family members who keep things going around here.

About The Artist

Christina Lockaby-Peeler is the real creative force at Enchanted Dragonfly Creations, the heart and soul of the entire thing, and my beloved wife. She was born in 1970 in the small town of Greenwood, South Carolina. During the course of growing up, her family moved to Spartanburg, South Carolina where she attended high school and college, and on more than one occasion, her life crossed paths with her future husband. After what seemed a lifetime's of experiences stuffed into a few short years, she met her husband (me!) and settled into an older home in the country in the tiny town of Moore, just outside the growing sprawl of Spartanburg. All through her life, she had need for a creative outlet in some medium, although being left-handed did create some challenges trying to learn techniques from those willing to teach.

Her 6th grade teacher helped open the realm of possibilities when, being ambidextrous herself, she was able to show Christina how to crochet left-handed. From that simple experience, Christina went on to try her hand at sewing and drawing during her teens, making things for her parents and herself when she moved out on her own. As a young, single parent on her own, she found the value and satisfaction of being able to make things for her growing family instead of purchasing them, which unfortunately was often a necessity instead of a choice.

Those essential skills eventually found time to become creative outlets in various crafts as she cooked, sewed, and created gifts for her family and friends as she put herself through school, worked several jobs to support her family and met her future husband. Now, a few years later, the children are older, and she had time to focus on her crafts again. She “restarted” with sewing, embroidery, soap-making, pottery, photography and many other things she wanted to do again, and decided to try her hand at beadwork and jewelry. Creating bead jewelry began as a simple hobby to create a few things for herself and her family, but as all hobbies do, it began to grow…and grow..out of the craft room, into the kitchen, then into the living room…finally, at the urging of her husband and family, she began offering some of her pieces for sale on auctions on-line and at a few local flea markets. To her surprise (but not her family’s) people found her designs appealing and began buying various pieces. And so the hobby expanded…where it will go is anybody’s guess, but wherever it goes, I will back my wife 100%. Given how she has supported me, I can not do any less.

The Artist's Support Team

Her daughter (also a "beader-in-training"), her sons, and her husband all contribute in some way...through loading the vehicles for craft shows, setting up tables (and the Ez-Up!), building displays, running power cables, maintaining the website, and yes, even helping at the events. And, consuming the food (the boys out-eat Dad now...sigh).
